The Library

Maxwell's new library is a large, comfortable, and inviting facility. The library seats 50 students. Our new computer center is equipped with twelve new workstations. The computers are networked and connected to the Internet via a T-1 line that provides rapid and easy access to the World Wide Web. Newly purchased databases add to the students' ability to do research and complete projects and assignments.

The library is open throughout the school day and is staffed by a
full-time school library media specialist and a part-time library teacher aide. Students have easy access to the library during lunch periods. Subject classes visit the library frequently, working on projects designed collaboratively by teachers and the librarian. Library skills are learned and reinforced as part of this process - a process that results in increased literacy and lifelong learning.

The library collection, varied in format and level of difficulty, has been carefully selected to reflect both the academic and vocational
needs of Maxwell's students. An increased emphasis on meeting the new standards is evident throughout the facility. Also available is an abundance of recreational reading material (novels, magazines, etc.) that vary in reading level and are representative of our multicultural school population. Increased funding has made possible the purchase of additional reference books, circulating materials, and magazines.

Students and staff alike find the library an aesthetically pleasing
and functional place to meet their academic and personal goals.
